Harmonic Cancellation by Adaptive Notch Filter Based on Discrete Wavelet Packet Transform for an MMCC-STATCOM

This paper presents an adaptive harmonic current extraction scheme using notch filters combined with a modified discrete wavelet-packet transform (DWPT). The is applied to MMCC-STATCOM for mitigating harmonics distortion in power line. DWPT incorporates data expansion technique overcome the limitations of boundary effect. It identifies rms values dominant elements non-stationary real-time, these being used update order and stop-frequency filter chain. embedded control system generate reference current. results have shown that tracks changes faster more accurately than conventional method. enables STATCOM adapt quickly load changes, hence giving accurate elimination real-time.
